A year ago this last weekend I had the privilege of photographing Jenna & Shelley’s wedding in the majestic Château de Massillan, set in the beautiful Provencal vineyard countryside, between Orange and Bollène.
I knew immediately I’d get on with these two brides-to-be, when on our first telephone conversation, prior to being officially booked, the discussion soon turned to football and the three-way battle that our respective teams were engaged in, in the race for the Premier League! (Jenna won the day on that one !)
Pleasantries aside, Jenna and Shelley had chosen to the tie the knot in Southern France, for the special romantic appeal of the place and the day lived up to expectations in all senses of the word. From the great weather and sublime quality of light, to the superbly decorated laid-out ceremonial lawn, not forgetting the special evening gastronomic delights served under a starlit sky, every detail of their wedding dream came true.
Above all else it’s the personalities of those involved; the couple, their families and the guests, all combined , that make a marriage union such a unique occasion. One year on I can still recall with great vividness, not only the deep and sincere love that Jenna & Shelley expressed for each other, but also the real heart-felt emotion that accompanied them, with all present playing an active role in making the day a wonderful celebration of joy and togetherness.
From a photographic viewpoint, apart from the majestic setting and the warm luminosity, it was such a pleasure to have so many people go out of their way to make sure that my job was as comfortable as possible, and a pleasure once more to be working alongside the talented and chilled-out videographer, Sebastian Thomas.
I wish the Bakers a wonderful anniversary, and have no doubt, as expressed in their vows, that they will share each other’s laughs and tears for so many years to come.
